Mothers Day in beautiful Portland May 2012

We again had our family reunion on Mothers Day in Portland Oregon where my daughter Liz and her husband lives with my  daughter Katie flying in from Denver...such family fun!!
I simply have come to love, love, love Portland and could relocate there in a heartbeat!!...he he
Meanwhile i will just truly enjoy the frolics of: family, food, fun and forests!!

We arrived on Friday eve and had a pizza with Liz and Andy. Very late Friday Katie arrived and Liz picked her up from the airport and both girls stayed overnight at the hotel with us. Saturday after breakfast at the hotel, we were off for  a day at the coast in Washington. We drove toward Aberdeen and ended up on Ocean City Beach---just beautiful with hundreds of Sandpipers at the waters edge.
We had some "famous Fish and chips" in Aberdeen( not my fav) and had some Thai food in Portland when we returned. Sunday was Mothers day and flurry of fun!! We started with a wonderful Scandinavian brunch( double YUMMMMM), walk at the Japanese Garden in Washington Park, drive thru at Burgerville for fresh strawberry lemonade and shortcake (yum), outdoor church service at the church plant  Liz and Andy attend and held at a women's shelter in Portland, then lite dinner( coconut rice and potatoes( yum again) with the Bhutanese family Liz  has tutored in ESL for the past 2 yrs, then late bite at a nice micro brew in Portland!! Full day!!! Then on Monday  another full day. We started with Portland's famous  Voodoo donuts, a stop at Powell's used bookstore( giant like a dept store!), then we drove to wine country (about 45 min south of Portland) near the town of Dundee, eating lunch at Red Mill Market(yum again) and then went to 2 wineries for wine tastings. It was a beautiful view of the vineyards.Tuesday we had to pack up and leave...the time goes too fast but a real gift of family time and such fun!!! We love Portland...oops i am repeating myself...haha

Here are some family photos from our frolics!!( google not coop with me to post photos... i will keep trying tho!!! It used to be a breeze to post photos from Picassa to blogspot...no more since they"improved" google :( !!
