It Begins... LakeEffect snowstorm predicted for Upper Michigan

 Well it looks like we will begin Winter 2014 in November as they predict a big "Lake Effect Storm" for Upper Michigan along the shores of Lake Superior this weekend. Last year  in 2012, we golfed on  the Friday after  Thanksgiving then cross country skied on the same weekend when the snow hit us....only in the U P!!  Yeah for snow..yeah for the beautiful U P winters. I love how they always have  tons of snow...the light and fluffy kind, and how the temps keep in the 20's for the most part due to the lake effect of Lake Superior.Winters there are nothing like the cold temps of northern Wisconsin,  Minnesota or the Dakotas..people forget that, and just lump all winter as one type of temp and experience...not true!!Actually the  U P winter temps are similar or even  warmer than Chicago in winter!!

Soon our Cross country skiing and exploring back roads by snowmobile will begin...hooray!!!
We are in our final count down to the big retirement move to the U P in six short weeks!!! The
U haul landed in October  with our furniture and belongings we want to keep, as we emptied our house of 30 yrs...Wow what a job that was!!!.A lot  of clothes and household items went to charity and with each load the "burden of stuff"was lifted.. It is a great blessing to be moving to our newest and smallest home of 40 yrs.It has 3 bedroom and baths but a ranch  style house with hardwood floors and efficient wood stove and furnace..fun functional kitchen and cozy front room plus office.so plenty for Dave and I and any of you who want to come visit us in the beautiful U P. We even configured a neat exercise area in our big basement  complete with  a treadmill, Nordic Track and exercise bike to help us lose that 20 lbs in our first yr of retirement, as  this is one of our  health goals along with tons of cross country skiing, biking and hiking.!Now with just the personal stuff left to pack in our car..... well U P here we come Jan 1st!!!.And of course Pollyanna bulldog cant wait for the move ..she loves playing treasure hunt in the snow with her tennis balls..we have to drag here in each afternoon before her paws get to cold!!
